Currently, the spaces for communicative interaction have expanded into the territory of virtuality. For this reason, it is interesting to reflect on the various elements that intervene in communicative practice, among them the following stand out: the sign (Saint Augustine, Saussure), linguistic or not; meaning (Berruto, Schaff) and linguistic and virtual communities (Yus). Communication processes, from Watzlawick's approach, are presented as spaces in which meaning is constructed through resources that go beyond the linguistic. The latter responds to the infinite richness of meaning as a consequence of the activity of man's thought.
Yanna Gabriela León Figuera Copyright (c) 2025 Yanna Gabriela León Figuera https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://revistas.upel.edu.ve/index.php/dialogica/article/view/3525 Thu, 27 Feb 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Dyscalculia as a cognitive obstacle in arithmetic operations with secondary students https://revistas.upel.edu.ve/index.php/dialogica/article/view/3502
The following article presents the results of a qualitative research, supported by field work, with an interpretive method and under the case study modality; which had the purpose of describing the meaning of dyscalculia as a Learning Difficulty in mathematics - known as DAM - and very little studied in high school. We worked with second year students of General Secondary Education of the U.E.N. “Father Francisco Andújar” from Cagua, Aragua state, Venezuela. The theoretical references were the Social Cognitive Theory of Learning and Piaget's Theory of Cognitive Development. The work reveals four categories: (a) Mathematical Semiology, (b) mathematical language in basic operations for calculation capacity and Realistic Mathematical Education, (c) Pedagogy of love, and (d) Pedagogical Praxis; which emerged after transliterating the interviews in 3 students who present this difficulty.
Argenis Alberto Padrón Verde Copyright (c) 2025 Argenis Alberto Padrón Verde https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://revistas.upel.edu.ve/index.php/dialogica/article/view/3502 Thu, 27 Feb 2025 00:00:00 +0000 The teaching of mathematics. A look from the neuroscience https://revistas.upel.edu.ve/index.php/dialogica/article/view/3503
The mathematics teacher must promote a spirit of participation, reflection and critical thinking in each student, with a view to generating contributions and solutions to the problems of daily life, from the perspective of this discipline. The objective of this article is to reflect on the role that neuroscience plays in teaching mathematics, providing the teacher with updated knowledge about brain functioning and seeking better use through possible innovative and creative strategies when teaching mathematics. . Issues associated with the development of neuroscience, its relationship with education, and its links with mathematics are addressed. Methodologically, it is supported by a documentary review and a reflective and interpretive process. As contributions, we conclude the need to update mathematics teachers in teaching strategies that take into account the advances in neuroscience.
Milyberth Isbeliz Herrera Romero Copyright (c) 2025 Milyberth Isbeliz Herrera Romero https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://revistas.upel.edu.ve/index.php/dialogica/article/view/3503 Thu, 27 Feb 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Reading in general middle education. A review of study trends https://revistas.upel.edu.ve/index.php/dialogica/article/view/3431
The purpose of this article is to analyze the trends and perspectives of research on reading in general secondary education. A systematic review of publications made between 2013 and 2023 was carried out. A total of 30 documents were reviewed. Six (6) research trends were established: (a) students as readers, (b) levels of reading skills and academic performance, (c) reading and ICT: attention to new realities, (d) teaching practices for reading development, (e) reading in disciplines or subjects, and (f) knowledge, conceptions or beliefs of teachers about reading. Likewise, gaps in knowledge were found regarding studies that address reading from a discursive literacy perspective, so there is no interest in associated concepts (discursive genres, discursive communities or rhetorical organization of texts), nor is the epistemic role of reading emphasized.
Zuleima López Copyright (c) 2025 Zuleima López https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://revistas.upel.edu.ve/index.php/dialogica/article/view/3431 Thu, 27 Feb 2025 00:00:00 +0000 The human condition of the teacher: A key factor in 21st century education https://revistas.upel.edu.ve/index.php/dialogica/article/view/3528
The human condition, understood as that intricate sum of intellectual, emotional and social characteristics that, together with the physical ones, define the human species; Since ancient times it has been subject to constant evolution as a consequence of educational processes and human interaction, as well as multiple events in the environment in which the individual develops. Various philosophical approaches have emerged in search of explaining the relationship between the human condition of teachers. This article attempts to offer a vision of the different traditional philosophies regarding the human condition and how they influence the training of teachers in the face of the 21st century education paradigms, which require a change in roles; considering that they must guide students in their teaching and learning process, and empower them to face the challenges of this century and in a world in continuous evolution.
Katiuska Armas Copyright (c) 2025 Katiuska Armas https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://revistas.upel.edu.ve/index.php/dialogica/article/view/3528 Thu, 27 Feb 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Dyscalculia and academic performance in students of the higher basic sub-level of ecuadorian educational centers https://revistas.upel.edu.ve/index.php/dialogica/article/view/3496
The objective of the research was to determine the relationship between dyscalculia and academic performance in students of the upper basic sublevel of Ecuadorian educational centers. The methodology used was based on the quantitative approach through field research at a correlational level. The study population was 1616 students, who were subject to the application of a survey through a polytomous Likert-type questionnaire. The results were treated with descriptive statistics as well as the Pearson correlation calculation, indicating that students have difficulties with certain mathematical skills, such as mental calculation and the development of numerical series, showing that they never identify the terms of basic operations or use correctly the law of signs when performing such operations. It is concluded that there is a relationship between dyscalculia and academic performance in students of the upper basic sublevel of Ecuadorian educational units.
Ivón Michelle Zambrano Santos, Jorge Luis Mendoza Mejia Copyright (c) 2025 Ivón Michelle Zambrano Santos, Jorge Luis Mendoza Mejia https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://revistas.upel.edu.ve/index.php/dialogica/article/view/3496 Thu, 27 Feb 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Psychosocial risk factors in the workplace of teachers: A systematic review https://revistas.upel.edu.ve/index.php/dialogica/article/view/3522
The study was based on highlighting the work of the teacher over time as an influential leader, who has the privilege of educating, thus preparing a model for the future. The objective of this research was to investigate the procedure of the research that in the last three years has been oriented to the psychosocial risk in teachers in general. Methodologically, a documentary review was carried out through the structuring of a flow chart, which allowed the information to be organized according to corresponding indicators. In the bibliometric analysis, the main research topics developed and produced in Spanish-speaking countries were described, between the years 2020 to 2023, described in Redalyc, Google Scholar and RefSeek. The research was developed under a qualitative approach and a post-positivist paradigm, using the case study method and the IAP method. Initially, a diagnostic test was applied and subsequently four classroom intervention sessions were held, where different pedagogical strategies were used to solve problem situations in the context. In addition, discussion and collaboration between students were promoted to encourage shared and reflective learning. It was concluded that mathematical reasoning is an effective teaching tool to address additive operations. As a result, perspectives are provided on the implementation of reasoning strategies in the teaching-learning process of mathematics..
Oscar Andrés Ramírez Moreno, Rosembert López Betancourt Copyright (c) 2025 Oscar Andrés Ramírez Moreno, Rosembert López Betancourt https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://revistas.upel.edu.ve/index.php/dialogica/article/view/3540 Thu, 27 Feb 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Digital larvae: Is technology a problem to be combated or a reality that requires understanding? https://revistas.upel.edu.ve/index.php/dialogica/article/view/3705
The paper examines the intricate relationship between technology and human behavior, with a particular focus on younger generations. It underscores the dual nature of technology. While offering myriad advantages, it concurrently presents challenges such as addiction, social isolation, and mental health concerns. The concept of 'digital larvae' is introduced to characterize individuals who develop an excessive reliance on technological devices, thereby impacting their holistic development and social interactions. To address this issue, three ecosystems are proposed as strategic frameworks. These ecosystems emphasize the significance of open communication, education, collaboration, and the establishment of clear boundaries in technology utilization. The central argument posits that technology, in itself, is not the core issue, but rather the lack of equilibrium and its irresponsible application. Consequently, the paper advocates for the creation of an environment where technology serves as a beneficial tool rather than a detriment.
Karla Alejandra Guerra Méndez Copyright (c) 2025 Karla Alejandra Guerra Méndez https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://revistas.upel.edu.ve/index.php/dialogica/article/view/3705 Thu, 27 Feb 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Evaluation of teacher performance and job satisfaction in adventist educational institutions https://revistas.upel.edu.ve/index.php/dialogica/article/view/3794
This article explores the urgency of a Teacher Performance Evaluation System (TPES) for Adventist educational institutions, which is crucial for educational management. The research, classified as a special project, was based on field research of a descriptive nature within the post-positivist paradigm. The study group consisted of 14 members of the educational community of the "Ricardo Greenidge" Adventist Educational Unit (UECARG). The analysis of the information led to the conclusion that there is a need to design the TPES, which is feasible in three performance categories for its design: human, administrative, and utility components. A TPES structure was proposed, considering managerial and management elements to ensure its systematicity, periodicity, applicability, and support. Given its feasibility, the implementation of this TPES in Adventist educational institutions is recommended to optimize the quality imparted in these learning centers.
Ana Da Rocha Copyright (c) 2025 Ana Da Rocha https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://revistas.upel.edu.ve/index.php/dialogica/article/view/3794 Thu, 27 Feb 2025 00:00:00 +0000
