Human resource management represents a fundamental pillar in contemporary universities, directly determining their academic competitiveness and institutional excellence. Implemented strategies require innovative approaches that integrate professional development, talent retention, and organizational culture. This research examines current methodologies employed by higher education institutions to maximize their most valuable resource: people. Twenty-one academic articles (2010-2025) were selected, identifying key elements such as strengthening collaborative environments, innovation processes, and quality educational spaces. Results demonstrate systematic growth in human capital, but evidence shows persistent challenges in retention policies, motivation, performance evaluation, and institutional recognition. It is concluded that enhancing university talent ensures sustainable academic excellence, contributing to institutional positioning. Strategic alignment between training, workplace wellness, and institutional objectives is necessary to address challenges in the globalized university environment.
