Reading is, without a doubt, one of the theoretical concepts of greatest significance and approach within the field of social sciences. It is enough to briefly review the current bibliography that deals with a number of definitions, trends, models and studies around reading to realize this. Within this context, one of the works that addresses the need for mediation and promotion of reading is, To read is learned by reading, by the Venezuelan writer Rod Medina. This author born in Caracas in 1965 is a teacher by profession. In addition to being a writer, poet, mediator and promoter of reading, he is also a founding member and coordinator of the Collective of Girls and Boys Readers l@s comelibros, producer of audiovisual microprograms and member of the Colectivo tvlecturas, among others.
