Abstract

This article, classified as a scientific essay and titled "Breaking the Shell: Challenges of Secondary Education Throughout the School Year," addresses the complexity of this educational cycle from a critical and reflective perspective. Secondary education represents a transitional stage between school and adult life, during which young people face crucial decisions about their academic, professional, and social future. In this sense, the text proposes a reflection on the current state of secondary education in Colombia academic secondary and technical secondary recognizing the structural and pedagogical tensions that affect its development, as well as the system's limitations in ensuring a harmonious transition. This perspective is analyzed from two perspectives: the context in which the student is immersed and the educational process, where the tangible gaps in external tests such as Saber 11, PISA tests, and university entrance exams one of the challenges upon completing this stage as high school graduates are addressed, in addition to job training, promoted by technical secondary education. Based on this analysis, two complementary paths are proposed: the development of public policies that respond to the needs of secondary education and the strengthening of inter-institutional alliances that integrate efforts between the educational, productive, and community sectors. These proposals include curricular review, methodological and didactic transformation, the adaptation of learning environments, and the consolidation of support networks aimed at strengthening educational processes.
