PARENTS’ RESILIENCE CAPACITY IN THE FACE OF THE CLINICAL DIAGNOSIS OF A DISABILITY

Abstract

In the current Colombian context, characterized by multiple social, economic and environmental challenges, resilience emerges as a key concept to strengthen the educational system and guarantee the right to quality education and continuity for all students. Resilience, understood as the ability to overcome adversities and adapt positively to crisis situations, becomes a fundamental pillar for educational institutions, since it allows them to face difficulties and also transform them into opportunities for learning and growth. From this perspective, the purpose of this theoretical approach emerges: to reflect on the resilience capacity of parents when faced with the clinical diagnosis of a disability. The methodology focused on a documentary analysis, which resulted in a essay with the purpose of assuming resilience as the essential capacity to build flexible educational systems that respond effectively to future emergencies, integrating strategies that promote equity, inclusion and the integral wellbeing of the school community; therefore, it is sought that from the classrooms and educational institutions, actions framed in the reality that many parents face and it is the educational institution that provides alternatives on how to face this situation. Thus guaranteeing new ways of teaching and understanding the environment presented in the teaching and learning processes.
