Abstract

Writing is a communicative skill that has allowed human beings to express their emotions and feelings, in addition to fulfilling an aesthetic function. This article reflects reflections based on a literature review and above all on experiences in the personal classroom of the author and academic environment, facing the scope of myths conceived from a functionality and modern narrative that seeks to improve writing processes in school, especially in the child population. It starts with a quick review of myths in cultures where they have been outstanding. It specifies the importance of promoting creative writing in classrooms, as well as the implementation of strategies and formal writing processes in school. Finally, myth is highlighted as a narrative text that is easy to understand and elaborate, which due to its extension and simple plot favors writing in children and appropriation of the different elements that this type of text possesses. Mythology extraordinarily mixes fantastic characters which favor the imagination and creativity of students, recognizes elements typical of culture, as well as allows the incorporation of social phenomena through figurative and allegorical language with a moral and educational tint. For these and more reasons it can be considered an excellent instrument to promote writing in school.
