EXPLORING THE WORLD THROUGH MATHEMATICS: AN EXPERIENCE UNDER THE STEAM APPROACH APPLICABLE TO COLOMBIAN BASIC EDUCATION

Abstract

Education today has faced countless changes and transformations that are of great importance in the training of students. As can be seen, technologies have largely taken over educational processes, and thus the STEAM approach has emerged as an alternative that mediates teaching processes. It is therefore worth proposing the following general objective: to reflect on the world of mathematics, taking on an experience under the STEAM approach applicable to Colombian basic education. In effect, the methodology applied is based on a documentary analysis that responds to a scientific essay, where knowledge, strategies, and resources are combined to recognize the importance of innovations such as the application of the STEAM approach (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) to educational processes. In fact, they constitute the theoretical foundations that enable teachers to perform adequately, which leads to defining pedagogical activity from the STEAM approach, thereby committing to the quality of teaching processes and generating meaningful learning.
