Abstract

The relationship between student motivation and academic achievement at the elementary school level is fundamental to understanding how learning processes and student performance develop. Motivation acts as a driving force that drives students to actively participate in school activities, persevere in the face of difficulties, and maintain a sustained interest in learning. When students are motivated, they tend to dedicate more time and effort to their tasks, which increases the likelihood of achieving better academic results. Therefore, this article aims to describe the relationship between student motivation and academic achievement at the elementary school level. The methodology adopted was essay-type, from a qualitative and interpretive perspective. Several studies have shown a positive correlation between motivation and academic performance. Motivated students tend to show greater interest in subjects, participate more in class, and have a positive attitude toward learning. This favors the acquisition of knowledge and skills, in addition to promoting effective study habits. In contrast, those with low levels of motivation may present disinterest, less participation, and greater difficulty retaining information, which negatively affects their academic performance.
