Abstract

This reflective article considers the concept of "self" as a component of important terms in the business world, which have reached schools as guidelines for all actors within the system, and which today contribute particularly to the mental health of these actors. In this sense, self-knowledge and its relationship to dialogue, emotional intelligence, and discernment are considered; as well as self-esteem and its derivations in conceptual and applied expressions in the ability to solve everyday problems; and autonomy and its manifestation in transformational leadership. The conclusions call for the creation of a school attuned to the real world from the perspectives of these "self" concepts to foster greater harmony and productive practices; to cultivate students with capacities manifested in vocabulary and actions that may be simple but always meaningful, motivated by extra effort.
