Abstract

This essay examines the integration of technological tools in teaching and learning, particularly in the field of mathematics, based on the analysis of recent research conducted in Colombian and Latin American educational contexts. Context is recognized as a key factor in the dynamics of learning, where motivation, interaction with the environment, and teaching strategies determine the development of competencies and knowledge.The study reviews experiences incorporating resources such as GeoGebra, Virtual Learning Objects (VLOs), augmented reality, ubiquitous learning, artificial intelligence, and STEAM approaches adapted to rural environments. The findings show that these tools enhance the understanding of abstract concepts, boost motivation, and strengthen digital and cognitive skills, provided that their use is articulated with solid theoretical frameworks and collaborative strategies.However, significant challenges are identified: cultural resistance to abandoning traditional methods, inequalities in access to ICT, and the need for continuous teacher training. It is emphasized that technology should not be regarded as an end in itself, but rather as a means to foster meaningful, contextualized, and personalized learning, particularly in communities with material limitations.The essay concludes that the effective integration of ICT requires a planned curricular project, a comprehensive vision of education, and the adaptation of strategies to the social and cultural realities of each educational community. Only in this way will it be possible to move from an accessory use to a reflective and sustainable incorporation, capable of increasing motivation, autonomy, and the social relevance of learning.
