This review article analyzes research management strategies in Colombian universities based on a synthesis of the academic literature published between 2016 and 2024. Through a systematic search in databases, studies in Spanish and English with qualitative or mixed approaches were selected. For the analysis, a data extraction matrix and a radar chart were used to evaluate the relationship between key aspects such as strategies, financing, innovation, policies and collaboration. The results indicate that research management in these institutions focuses on collaboration, training and engagement with society, in line with a global trend towards more applied research. The creation of national and international cooperation networks is highlighted, as well as capacity building through training in advanced methodologies, with the aim of generating a significant impact on society. In addition, interdisciplinarity and the transfer of knowledge to productive sectors emerge as key strategies for academic and economic development. In conclusion, effective research management in Colombian universities requires strategic planning, sustainable financing and effective coordination between academia, government and the productive sector, thus ensuring a greater impact on the country's development.
