Education in rural areas faces specific challenges that affect both teaching and learning, particularly in mathematics. To better understand these obstacles, it is essential to analyze the complexity of the rural context and its impact on the educational process. From Michel Foucault’s perspective, this study examines the dynamics of power and knowledge that shape discipline and social control within the classroom. Likewise, drawing on Emmanuel Mounier’s personalist philosophy, it highlights the role of community and the intrinsic value of the individual in education. In addition, Pierre Bourdieu’s concepts offer insights into how cultural capital and social structures influence mathematics instruction in these settings. This analysis aims not only to identify existing barriers but also to propose effective pedagogical strategies to overcome difficulties and enhance educational quality in rural areas. The findings of this study provide a foundation for future research and educational policies aimed at reducing disparities in mathematics education across rural contexts.
