Abstract

This article examines the use of the digital tool Google Classroom as a pedagogical mediator in strengthening school coexistence, with an emphasis on preventing cyberbullying, one of the most frequent issues in virtual educational environments. Cyberbullying, understood as a form of violence carried out through digital means with the intention of harming, excluding, or intimidating others, has gained greater relevance in educational settings following the expansion of remote learning. In this context, it is recognized that bullying is not exclusive to physical space but is also reproduced in virtual platforms, where the lack of direct teacher mediation and the anonymity provided by ICTs contribute to escalating conflicts. Using a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design, a sample of 34 sixth-grade students from the Instituto Técnico Industrial was studied through instruments such as pretests, posttests, and field journals. The implementation of Google Classroom as a space for regulated interaction enabled the development of collaborative strategies, the promotion of respectful dialogue, and the establishment of digital coexistence norms, which reduced aggressive behaviors, inappropriate language, and recurring conflicts. This platform was intentionally managed as a structured pedagogical environment for fostering digital citizenship and peaceful conflict resolution, supporting collaborative work and the development of socio-emotional competencies. Theoretically, the study is grounded in perspectives on learning mediated by cultural tools and the concept of digital coexistence, highlighting the need for ethical literacy in virtual settings to strengthen democratic practices. Furthermore, it incorporates insights from network society theory to understand the new configuration of school relationships in the digital age. Thus, the planned and pedagogical use of Google Classroom goes beyond academic management to become a protective environment where interaction is regulated, digital citizenship is cultivated, and cyberbullying is prevented through ethical and collaborative communication practices. The general objective of this study was to strengthen citizenship competencies in sixth-grade students at the Instituto Técnico Industrial in Villavicencio-Meta, through a pedagogical strategy mediated by e-learning in Google Classroom, framed within the institutional well-being approach. To achieve this purpose, the following specific objectives were established: to diagnose the students’ level of citizenship competencies through an initial evaluation (pretest); to design a virtupost teste in Google Classroom based on a pedagogical strategy aimed at strengthening these competencies; to implement the course with sixth-grade students, incorporating institutional well-being as a transversal axis; and to evaluate, through a final test (posttest), the impact of the applied pedagogical strategy on the development of citizenship competencies.
