Abstract

This essay explores the pedagogical relevance of everyday language as a bridge between family culture and academic learning. The objective of this inquiry is to demonstrate how everyday language functions both as prior knowledge and as a mediator in the meaningful construction of learning. The scope of this work is theoretical and propositional, integrating the frameworks of Vygotsky, Bruner, Ausubel, Bernstein, Freire, and the guidelines of the Colombian Ministry of Education (MEN). Methodologically, it consists of a conceptual reflection supported by documentary analysis, from which an integrative model emerges to guide didactic decisions focused on meaningful experiences, the recognition of prior knowledge, and teacher mediation. The main findings reveal that the community’s own language constitutes an essential input and a starting point for school life; spontaneous concepts are organized in school as scientific concepts through didactic mediation; and the circular model returns everyday language to the community with greater conceptual richness. In conclusion, the articulation between everyday and academic spheres strengthens meaningful understanding, legitimizes student experience, and promotes inclusion, equity, and autonomy.
