Abstract

This study analyzed the influence of environmental determinants on the health-disease process and the role of nursing care in addressing them. The study consisted of a systematic literature review conducted using the PRISMA methodology, which included searches of databases such as PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and SciELO. Articles published between 2015 and 2026, written in English and Spanish, were selected based on identification, screening, and eligibility criteria. The results demonstrated that environmental determinants exerted a significant influence on the development of respiratory, cardiovascular, and infectious conditions. Likewise, it was determined that nursing staff played a fundamental role in health promotion, risk prevention, and the implementation of community interventions aimed at mitigating such effects. It was concluded that strengthening academic training in environmental health and integrating nursing staff into intersectoral strategies were essential for increasing equity and improving the quality of life of populations.
