PSYCHOPEDAGOGICAL IMPACT OF CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IN COLOMBIA

Abstract

Sexual abuse is traumatic and generates psychological problems, such as phobias, depressive symptoms, suicidal ideation and behavior. This is the most important problem we face today in our country and in much of the world. It is the impact of sexual abuse on children. It is a difficult subject that sometimes we do not want to touch, but it is necessary to work against this terrible evil that accompanies us in this reality. We need to protect our children from this plague of this hidden trauma because people can hide these situations of suffering for years out of shame, fear, and dread, and above all because we are a somewhat empathetic society and do not allow our children to express what they really feel. The psychopedagogical effects of sexual abuse in childhood will have cognitive problems, developing poor academic performance and difficulties with attention and concentration. Environments of violence, disrespect, and corruption have created children with low self-esteem, insecurity, trauma, anxiety, depression, and suicide attempts. An abused child is a lonely child. In this society, we must provide support for our children so they feel protected in safe spaces and enjoy optimal mental health, because a protected child is a superhero.
