Abstract

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) presents a challenge in primary education, impacting the development of reading and writing skills. Characterized by attention deficits, hyperactivity, and impulsivity, ADHD influences the acquisition of these skills, affecting academic performance, emotional development, and self-esteem. It is crucial to recognize that these difficulties are linked to neuropsychological alterations that require interventions tailored to individual needs. Specialized literature emphasizes the importance of a comprehensive perspective that addresses obstacles and enhances inherent strengths in these children, such as creativity, imagination, and divergent thinking. The purpose of this academic essay is to reflect on pedagogical strategies employed by teachers to support the teaching of reading and writing in children with ADHD. In relation to the conclusions: ADHD requires an adapted educational approach to mitigate its impact on literacy, recognizing that academic difficulties are connected to neuropsychological deficits. It is essential to implement a comprehensive intervention that not only compensates for inattention and impulsivity but also fosters cognitive strengths, such as creativity. This work highlights the need to adopt a pedagogical model that values both the challenges and potential of these children, in order to build an inclusive and holistic educational system.
