Abstract

Colombian rural education has historically been configured from certain social, political, and economic dependencies, which have characterized it from an imaginary and representations that make it vulnerable and susceptible to challenges and hurdles that range from the persistence of armed conflict for decades, which forces students and teachers to endure a framework of violence that results in fear, leading to a lack of guarantee of the fundamental human right, increasing school dropout rates. This is compounded by a complexity that involves the lack or absence of basic services, infrastructure, and social and educational commitment. From these considerations, some challenges and hurdles that rural education faces are highlighted. This scientific essay presents an analytical-interpretative perspective on the complexity of rural education in Colombia, based on previous research and data obtained from report No. 98 of the Pontifical University.of the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. In this sense, a methodological development is observed for interpretative purposes, so that the argumentation of the exposed aspects is illustrated. Finally, the conclusions are presented based on the complexity faced by rural teachers in Colombia and it is pointed out that emotional exhaustion can generate exhaustion and effects on mental health. In addition, there may be difficulties in the implementation of educational policies because the guidelines formulated from urban contexts do not respond to the rural reality.
