Abstract

Currently, technology plays an essential role in student growth and development, consolidating the academic process. Its potential should be harnessed to serve as an aid for teachers, helping them achieve the objectives set for the academic day. Therefore, this article proposes understanding the use of mass media as an active methodology to strengthen the literacy process of primary school children at the Nuestra Señora de Belén Educational Institution. The methodology employed was qualitative research with characteristics of the interpretive paradigm. This involved direct observation of twenty (20) children with the greatest weaknesses in linguistic competence and semi-structured interviews with seven (7) teachers: the principal, two (2) coordinators, and four (4) teachers from those grades. The results revealed a concerning deficit in the literacy process in the classroom, and the academic consequences showed that many students were underweight due to parental neglect, late entry into the school, and weaknesses in previous grades. However, the use of these technological resources demonstrated a significant improvement in the literacy process and even in the behavior of the selected students.
