Education in rural Colombia faces complex structural challenges that negatively impact teaching and learning processes, particularly the results of the Saber tests in mathematics. For these reasons, this review article analyzes these dynamics from an interdisciplinary theoretical framework: From the perspective of Michel Foucault, it considers the power-knowledge mechanisms that shape discipline and social control within the rural school setting. Also, from the perspective of Emmanuel Mounier, it highlights the centrality of the individual and the value of community life as fundamental axes of educational practice. Complementarily, the postulates of Pierre Bourdieu facilitate the understanding of how institutionalized cultural capital and habits determine the appropriation of mathematical knowledge in contexts of socioeconomic vulnerability. The review was methodologically based on a descriptive documentary investigation with an analytical-conceptual approach characteristic of a Scoping Review, aimed at identifying existing pedagogical barriers in order to formulate educational strategies to enhance students' skills in rural contexts and improve their performance on the Saber Tests. It concludes that the articulation of these theoretical frameworks provides the essential critical foundations for designing public policies focused on equity and quality in rural education, and relevant recommendations are offered accordingly.
