Abstract

Socialization emerges as a central process for understanding what we mean by education. It is not simply the transmission of content, but rather shapes identities, habits, and ways of interpreting knowledge in diverse social contexts. Within this framework, education manifests itself as a cultural practice that integrates norms, values, and knowledge that arise from the interaction between students, teachers, and communities. Thus, socialization guides the internalization of civic, cultural, and ethical principles that shape the school experience and subsequent social life. For this reason, this essay adopts a qualitative, interpretive, and hermeneutic perspective. Its general objective is to characterize the elements that influence social education as an expression of the idea of development in socialization processes within educational settings. A key finding is that socialization educates for coexistence and diversity. Educational environments should foster the recognition of differences, rational dialogue, and conflict mediation. Education, then, functions as a laboratory for citizenship, where meanings are negotiated, rules of coexistence are established, and shared frameworks are built. This approach promotes inclusive education that welcomes students from diverse backgrounds and contexts.
